What do I need before I can start taking driving lessons?

You must have a provisional driving licence before you can take driving lessons. Information on how to obtain a Provisional Driving Licence

How soon can I start lessons with you?

Normal waiting time is usually around 2 months.

How many lessons do I need before taking my test?

If you are a beginner the Driving Standard Agency recommends 45 hours of instructor led tuition and 25 hours private tuition.  However, this will vary from person to person. In general, at least 40 hours are needed but please be aware that 50-60 hours are not uncommon!

How do I book lessons?

The first lesson(s) MUST be booked and paid upfront online. Subsequent lessons can be booked in-car.

Can I book lessons with you if you don’t cover my area?

Yes, but only if you are willing to meet up somewhere within the areas I cover. I DO NOT pick up outside my coverage area regardless how close it might be.

Do I need to pass my Theory test before I can start driving lessons?

No.

Can I book my Practical test before my theory test?

No. You need to pass the theory test before you can book your practical test. Once you have passed the theory test, you have two years to pass your practical test.

Do you provide automatic tuition?

Yes.

All lessons must be paid upfront. I don’t accept cash or cheque.

What is your availability?

My standard working hours are Monday to Friday 10:00AM – 6PM. Weekends and Bank Holidays Closed.

Are you available weekends?

No. Never.

Do you pick up and drop off your learners?

Yes. I will pick up and drop off at your chosen location as long as it’s within my catchment area.

What is PassPlus?

PassPlus is a course for full licence holders to gain more driving experience.

How do I prepare for my Theory test?

You can purchase the official study material from the DSA (Driving Standard Agency). Visit DSA’s official online shop. Current customers have access to my theory test pro page where you can prepare for your theory test free of charge.

What happens on the day of the Practical test?

The driving test is approximately 40 minutes and includes all types of roads, one manoeuvre, 10 minutes of independent driving and possibly the emergency stop. At the start of the test, the examiner will ask you to read a number plate from 20 metres and ask two vehicle safety questions. Download Vehicle Safety Questions.

Do you teach intensive courses?

No.

Do you offer trial lessons?

No. I don’t work for free.

Should I do one or two hour lessons?

I only offer two hour lessons. 

Can I use my own car for driving lessons with you?

No.. 

Which test centres do you use?

Tottenham, Wood Green and Barnet.

I have a test booked but my instructor is not available on my test date. Can I book your car for my test?

Only if you book a 2 hour lesson in good time (at least 2 weeks) before your test so I can assess your driving. If I believe you are driving at the required standard I will be happy to take you for your test.
